“Flowers of the South”

"Fleurs du Sud" was designed and produced by New Orleans drawing instructor J. B. Guibet during the Yankee occupation of New Orleans for residents to display the First National Flag, known as the Stars and Bars, which had been outlawed. The flag is hidden in the floral design. The blue flowers in the upper left represent the canton. The two rows of red flowers represent the red bars and the row of white flowers the white bar. There are eleven small white flowers mixed with the blue flowers representing the eleven Confederate States. Twelve cards per box.
